The Local Lens – Gratitude for our Community
November 22, 2023 | Linda Offerdahl
GRATITUDE is the theme of the Lens this week. I admire the people who meditate and reflect on a daily basis all the things for which they are grateful. While I don’t need a special day to show gratitude, it does help me slow down a bit and reflect. Sort of. I am writing this blog in between roasting turkey parts for gravy and making beef stew for the crew coming in tonight. Here goes – What I am grateful for:
- My health(recovering from a sinus infection)
- My family and friends that are like family
- Julie, Kristin and Jonathon who help IVCBA do all that it does
- Those who actively work to make our community thrive
- The nonprofits and agencies who care for our community
- Our good fortune that allows us to live in such a beautiful place
Everyone knows what an Advent calendar is, right? Something every day of the week? That’s what the IVCBA calendar is like this month! Here’s what coming just in the next 7 days….
- Two reasons to go to Glasses Wine Bar…look ‘em up!
- Karaoke at Alibi
- Decorate and party at Cornerstone Church after the service on Sunday
- The Christmas Market at Lake Tahoe School on Tuesday…New event!!
- Bridget Giroux Boutiques Sip and Shop this weekend.
Holiday party venues:
I won’t get them all, but apart from the obvious (Chateau, Hyatt, Crystal Bay Club), Alibi’s Barrell House is a great choice, so is Big Water Grille and Jiffy’s Pizza. Sunshine Deli is a great caterer.
Please tell me who I forgot!
I have to mention Tahoe Film Fest starting November 30th, and Candy Cane Lane and Village at the Rec Center and UNR @ Lake Tahoe on December 2nd!
Remember to stop in our local businesses over the weekend for Small Business Saturday!
And keep watching for Live.Work.Play. in your mailbox!
