Lake Tahoe Business Walks Report

February 4, 2025 | Member Submitted

The Fall 2024 Lake Tahoe Business Walks Report highlights the economic landscape of the Incline Village and the broader Tahoe region, capturing insights from local businesses on key challenges and opportunities. Led by the Tahoe Prosperity Center (TPC) in collaboration with various chambers, business associations, and local governments, this initiative gathered real-time feedback from over 700 businesses through in-person and online surveys.

Major findings indicate that housing affordability, workforce shortages, and infrastructure improvements—particularly in broadband and transportation—remain top concerns. Many businesses report stability or growth, concerns persist regarding rising operational costs, seasonal workforce fluctuations, and the need for streamlined government regulations.

Incline Village, a key focus area, reflects many of these regional trends. Local businesses cite employee housing shortages, limited skilled labor, and regulatory hurdles as significant barriers to growth. Despite these challenges, optimism remains, with strong community engagement and ongoing collaboration between business groups and policymakers.

The Business Walks data will help guide future initiatives such as workforce training programs, improved transit solutions, and regional coordination to balance economic growth with sustainability. By uniting efforts through the Tahoe Prosperity Playbook, the region aims to foster a more resilient, inclusive economy, ensuring long-term prosperity for both businesses and residents in Incline Village and across Lake Tahoe.
