Welcome to “The Local Lens”

February 7, 2022 | Linda Offerdahl

The Local Lens is the IVCBA blog. Through this column, we will be your eyes and ears throughout the community. We encourage you to keep your eyes on The Local Lens as we will be sharing information about our community and posting factual details of the key initiatives that are underway within the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe.  In addition to our insight, we welcome you to submit your own insight within your own unprejudiced opinion.

We take this opportunity to welcome all the new residents to our piece of paradise and encourage our long-time locals to make them feel right at home. Together, let’s embrace everyone as a local who wants a thriving community that supports and is supported by its businesses and organizations.

WHOSE IDEA WAS THIS ANYWAY?

Linda Offerdahl, IVCBA Executive Director

It is my honor and pleasure to continue to be involved in our charming mountain town – for all the right reasons. Since my husband, Richard, and I moved here, we have enjoyed every moment of our philanthropic passion to support the community that we have been honored to call ‘home’ for over 34 years. While thoroughly enjoying my life as a ‘career mom,’ I had the opportunity to be involved in some of our town’s significant organizations.

Many years ago, my life was wrapped with all the fun and responsibilities that come with being a ‘career mom.’  Throughout that time, I enjoyed being active in our Mom’s Club, the IES PTA, and was a board member of the Boys and Girls Club North Lake Tahoe and Children’s Cabinet which is now Tahoe Family Solutions. In 2006, I started a business, Dress the Party for Charity, and founded the original Incline Community Business Association (IVCB). Never one to miss an opportunity to help my community thrive, I also was on the ground floor to initiate The Incline Star Follies, the K-16 Council, and Rotary’s Battleborn Beerfest.

As a fulltime resident, coupled with a greater need to bring our community together (due the pandemic), I fueled the forces with the original organizers of the ICBA to reignite what is now the IVCBA.

I often hear basic, and not-so-basic questions about our Incline Village/Crystal Bay community by wannabe locals and longtime residents alike. Each week I will address different segments of our community and try to answer some of these questions. Feel free to send questions for this column to linda@IVCBA.org. This week I will answer basic questions about IVCBA.

What is IVCBA? The community and business association in Incline Village Crystal Bay. Our mission is to Build Community for the sustainability of Incline Village and Crystal Bay. IVCBA is a membership-based organization for residents and businesses that want a thriving community where they Live.Work.Play.

What is IVCBA.org? Our community website, full of information you can access yourself. The Local Lens will curate as well as guide you to where to find more information and resources. Visit IVCBA.org to find information on Community, Education, Business, Health and Wellness, Environment, and Arts and Culture. The site also provides a community event calendar, community posts, information, and resources.

In closing, I encourage you to join us in our mission “To build community and grow cohesiveness for the sustainability of Incline Village Crystal Bay, Nevada.”
