The Local Lens – Sheriff’s Picnic this Saturday

September 25, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

My husband Richard and I just had a conversation about how safe from crime we feel in Incline Village. Break-ins tend to be related to bears, neighbors look out for houses of friends who are out of town and speeders are going 45 mph, not 80 mph. We give a lot of kudos to the Incline Substation of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. Thanks in part to the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, it is fully staffed with competent deputies and officers who keep the crime rate low. When a crime is committed, it is dealt with quickly and efficiently.

The Substation is an integral part of our community. Officers are accessible and are regular attendees at the Friday Community Forum, IVCBA events, and other community happenings. They can be found helping elderly homebound residents with shoveling snow and volunteering at fundraising events for nonprofits. Even Sheriff Balaam is well-known in Incline and was here for the Community Fair over the 4th of July. He will be in attendance on Saturday for the SHERIFF’S PICNIC at Aspen Grove…Come to shake his hand…and stop by for the FREE FOOD! This is a great family event; bring the kids to see the K-9 unit, the horses and all of their “toys”. It’s a great chance to get your kids an ID and to learn about other community resources.

BEAUTIFICATION

Rotarians were hard at work fixing up and painting the bus shelters, finishing up the last one a few days ago. They are responsible for installing them many years ago. Thank you!

IVGID Curbside Yard Debris Recycling Program

This program runs October 1-October 29. Stickers are mailed to you or you can drop off debris at the Sweetwater Transfer Station. Defensible space starts with picking up those pine needles and pinecones. (And you really don’t want to do it all next spring.) Anyone know teens looking for work?!

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

CERT is looking for able-bodied YOUNGER people to get certified in Emergency Response Training. There’s a lot of practical knowledge everyone should know, like CPR, but why not do it to be a trained volunteer at community events?

IVGID Candidate Forum next Monday, September 30 at Incline High School at 6pm. All 6 candidates will be there.

TOP PICK FOR FUN EVENT THIS WEEKEND

Denim and Diamonds fundraiser for Tahoe Connection For Families is Friday night at the Chateau. Wear your jeans and some bling and support a good cause.

The Local Lens – Fall Clean-Up

September 18, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

Where do all those pine needles come from? One good blast of wind and all the raking that was done seemed like it was all for naught. There is always one blast of cold weather that reminds us that winter is coming, but I promise September and October are beautiful months.

IVCBA’s Main Street focus has been beautification. Please help keep up the momentum from spring/summer to the Fall Clean-up in your yard/neighborhood and within the community. The fall regional clean-up campaign (Great Sierra River) is on Saturday, September 21. The Sierra Nevada Alliance organizes this regional event. Meet up at the Rec Center to get clean-up supplies provided by IVGID’s Waste Not program. MORE INFORMATION

Fall is not normally the time one thinks about daffodils and tulips, but these early spring bloomers are bulbs that must be planted soon!  Consult with our very own High Sierra Gardens about what and how to plant.

FIRE SAFETY:

Our fire district (NLTFPD) collaborates with agencies around the Lake to protect us in case of fire or evacuation. They were part of the Davis fire team that handled that fire so effectively. Here are ways for YOU to be actively involved with fire prevention:

PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY with defensible space.

ORGANIZE A NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN -UP through the Tahoe Network Fire Adapted Communities. See their calendar for upcoming Upper Tyner events.  Why not make it a bi-annual event in coordination with the spring and fall clean-ups in Incline, like the one this Saturday?

ATTEND THE FIREWISE USA WORKSHOP on Thursday, September 19 in Southshore. Learn more at https://www.nfpa.org/education-and-research/wildfire/firewise-usa.

Here’s what Tia Rancourt, Public Information Officer has to say:

“The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District has been at the forefront of Defensible Space and Fuels Reduction & Mitigation efforts since the mid-1990s. We support the Firewise USA program by collaborating with the Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities to provide essential resources, such as free Defensible Space Inspections and Chipping Services. These services are available annually from spring through fall, and the last day to request them for this season is October 27, 2024.”

KNOW THE EVACUATION PLAN

We had a wake-up call last week with the Davis fire. We each need to be prepared for an evacuation and understand the plan. There is a newly developed regional plan that includes Incline Village and Crystal Bay. It is a living document with time for you to ask questions or make a comment. The plan is currently located at: laketahoeregionalevacuationplan.pdf (ca.gov). See the NLTFPD press release about it here: http://ivcba.org/community-news/new-lake-tahoe-regional-evacuation-plan/

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: H9MECOMING

If you haven’t been to a football game since you were in high school, go this Friday night! And watch for the parade on local streets at 2pm.  Hotdogs and refreshments, cheerleaders, a homecoming court, and oh, there IS a football game against West Wendover! Girls’ volleyball is playing Silver Stage.

CIVC ENGAGEMENT

CAB MEETING

Every month Washoe County organizes a CAB (Citizen Advisory Board) meeting. The next one is Monday, September 23.

IVGID Candidate Forum

Local politics DO matter. There are 6 candidates running for 3 positions on the IVGID board. IVGID is the general improvement district that handles water, sewer trash and all of the recreation facilities. That “private club vibe in a public setting” is what many of us moved here for. We are outdoor and recreation-oriented. There is a public forum for the board of trustees candidates on September 30th at Duffield Theater.

CALENDAR

Sept 21: IVGID Waste Not clean-up day in conjunction with Great Sierra River

Sept 22: Golf From the Heart golf tournament, a fundraiser for the Hospital; Auxiliary

Sept 27: Denim and Diamonds for TCF, Tahoe Connection for Families

Sept 28: Sheriff’s Picnic at Aspen Grove

The Local Lens – Gratitude for First Responders

September 11, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

As I look  at the clear skies over Lake Tahoe, it’s hard to believe the horror created by the Davis Fire just “down the hill”. In the 36 years we have lived in Incline Village, never has a fire seemed so close to us.  Although things can change in a moment, we are fortunate to have escaped the fire and the smoke so far. Even so, our families have been affected by school closures and other disruptions. Uncertainty, making plans to evacuate if necessary, have created stress in our lives. It has been harder for workers to get to Incline and even those not traveling, to focus on work. Please remember to support our local businesses in this difficult time.

This is a good time to remember our friends and community in Washoe County. Many people, including some you know that used to live in Incline, have either evacuated or are at risk. Please, reach out personally to those you know and consider making a donation to help others in need.

HOW TO HELP

Davis Fire Emergency Fund

Red Cross of Northern Nevada is running the evacuation center.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE…

In this case, a regional village. The Washoe County Emergency Response Team pulls together all of those regional, state  and federal agencies that help, and would help us, in case of an emergency, including evacuation. Download and register with CODE RED to stay updated on any evacuations. Local agencies that are involved include Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District.  Our local CERT, Certified Emergency Response Team remains available to help wherever needed in an emergency.  The Incline Village Community Hospital, part of the Tahoe Forest Health District in Truckee, always stands ready to help in an emergency with an  Incident command that would be in touch with first responders.

We know how our community comes together from the COVID pandemic. Our businesses, nonprofits and service organizations all pitched in to help. Pet Network is prepared to offer dog or cat food or crates for people in the community in case of evacuation. Our local Rotary clubs help with worldwide disasters, as well as stand ready to help locally as they did with the Angel at Your Door program during COVID. Parasol Tahoe has assembled a comprehensive list of organizations offering assistance, as well as encouraging its donors to give through their donor-advised funds.

I was reminded this morning by the news that today is 9-11, the 23rd anniversary of the al Quaeda attack on the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and the airplane crash in Pennsylvania. Yet another reason to be grateful for First Responders.

I am so grateful for this community in which I live and for the agencies, businesses, nonprofits and residents that help create IVCBA’s vision of a thriving community. Help us “build cohesiveness for the sustainability of Incline Village and Crystal Bay”. Join IVCBA as a community supporter for $50 – JOIN HERE

The Local Lens – Labor Day Weekend Festivities

August 28, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

We had an early taste of colder weather, but it should be a nice weekend for all of the activities going on.

THE WEEKEND STARTS EARLY with the Tastes of Tahoe tomorrow night at the Chateau. This longstanding event is put on by PEO, a philanthropic organization that raises money for scholarships. Tickets available at The Potlatch (Raley’s shopping area).

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES…

  • Village Ski Loft has their annual sale. It’s a classic. GO, even if you don’t ski.
  • Mountain Hardware and Sports has specials all weekend too! Shop their summer stuff…summer is not officially over until September 21. But it may be worth your while to go to Truckee for their annual garage sale….think really good deals on everything that should have sold and didn’t.
  • ALL of the grocers have specials….check out Raleys, Grocery Outlet, and Natural Grocers.  They are all working hard for business. Personally, I find reasons to go to all of them!
  • Happy Tiers…Always a good place to go on a holiday weekend. Did you know they have a Cake of the Month Club?! Would someone please put me on their list one month? My birthday is June, but I can celebrate life any month of the year!
  • Incline Liquor…They have a new owner, longtime local Brendan Donovan. If you haven’t ever been there,(MUCH improved interior),  check it out. He’s in that little plaza with Incline  Cleaners and Mountain Workspace.
  • Umpqua Bank – Sept 5…come and meet the new branch manager at Umpqua Bank, Aundira Hernandez.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ROTARY CLUB

I hope you have already bought your ducks, because the Duck Drop happens on Monday morning at the parking lot at Aspen Grove. If you have grandchildren in town, they will love seeing the fire truck dropping the ducks! Only in a small town….

SUPPORT LOCAL ART

Be a part of the community mural at Natural Grocers. Local artist Sara Smith has created a mural that embodies the values of our mountain community AND this health-driven store. The public is invited to participate in completing the aspen trees on the bottom. No prior experience or skill is required! Just be part of the community for a few moments and leave your mark on that mural.

I hope you are getting the message….our community WANTS you to be involved! Just say Yes!

The Local Lens – Building a Strong Community

August 21, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

Here’s  another good reason to pay attention to those signs along the road that say “Take it slow, Tahoe”: school is back in session! Thank you to local resident Helen Neff for this thoughtful campaign. She (almost) singlehandedly brought and distributed those signs, made by Take Care Tahoe, to Incline. They remind us that there are pedestrians, people taking their kids to school, dogs for a walk, going out for coffee,  etc. In fact, we encourage people to get out of their car and enjoy walking through our Village. Don’t forget about E-bikes and scooters! They may be on the street, not the sidewalk, but they are often unexpected….another good reason to “Take it slow,  Tahoe”.

The Local Lens and IVCBA are putting a big focus on  community involvement this fall. There IS an election (how could you not notice?). Be sure you are registered to vote!

CITIZEN ADVISORY BOARD next Monday.

Diane Backer did a great job in her tenure as CAB Chair. She is passing the baton to a very capable and informed citizen, Roxanna Dunn. Next Monday’s meeting will focus on the new Sand Harbor reservation system. Hopefully, this will improve the traffic congestion!

TRPA AND HOUSING

TRPA has rebranded its housing and redevelopment committee. It is now called Tahoe Living project, Cultivating Community, Conserving the Basin.  There is a housing workshop for the North Shore on September 10. Visit tahoeliving.org to learn more and get involved.

IVCBA HOUSING COMMITTEE

As a follow up to Washoe County’s housing study and roadmap (approved by the Commission a year ago), IVCBA has re-formed the Washoe Tahoe Housing Partnership to the IVCBA Housing Committee.  It has taken some time to find the right vehicle that can encourage and help unlock housing stock for shorter-term solutions. This committee will interact with the agencies that set policies. It will also “educate and convene” our community through a speaker series starting October 1. On a recent trip to Reno at 7:30 am, I was met by a steady stream of cars heading up to Incline for work. People who live where they work are more engaged in the local issues and support the local businesses. They are essential to IVCBA’s mission of “building and growing cohesiveness for the sustainability of Incline Village and Crystal Bay”.

BEAUTIFICATION SPOTLIGHT

IVGID Parks and Recreation….Have you walked the paths between Incline Way and Aspen Grove? How about the little parks that mark the entrance to Incline? All of the facilities, including the entrance to the Rec Center, have beautiful grounds that are well-maintained. Thank you to Stephen Phillips and his staff!

SERVICE CLUBS ARE A BUILDING BLOCK TO A STRONG COMMUNITY.

I want to give a shoutout to AAUW, the American Association of University Women. We have a very active branch, headed by President Janet Usinger. They give scholarships, and work to promote STEM and other educational programs in schools. This group of nearly 150 women is raising funds for these programs in September. A silent auction which allows everyone to participate, this starts September 1st – 18th. But try to make the Garden Party fundraiser on September 15th, at an exclusive estate on Lakeshore. The details are on IVCBA’s calendar. This illustrious group of women have a wide range of social activities, from their Monday hiking/snowshoe/kayaking  group to monthly meetings with speakers to book and cooking clubs. Go to AAUW Incline Village for more information on membership contact Diane Woodward (925-300-6284) and Leann Foster (510-502-7366). They can both be reached at membership@tahoenvaauw.org.

We have two very active Rotary Clubs, also dedicated to community service, as well as international service. Fall is a great time to attend a meeting and think about joining. Reach out to tahoeinclinerotary@gmail.com for the Thursday morning club, Bridget Crowe, bgirouxdesign@gmail.com for the noon club. You do NOT have to be a veteran to attend the lunches of the  IVCB Veterans Club on the last Thursday of the month. Incliners is primarily a social club, but part of its service is welcoming new residents and distributing IVCBA community welcome bags. Join the Incliners here: https://www.incliners.org/membership

Who did I forget? This is my end of the blog message to those that read to the end. Let me know so I can include them next week.

The Local Lens – Natural Grocer Mural & Commissioner Meeting

August 14, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

Have you seen the Natural Grocers Mural? Local artist Sara Smith is creating a scene that reflects the values of a healthy lifestyle and sustainability common to our community and to Natural Grocers. Although it isn’t finished, you can see the basic design that is already sketched out. Plan to be a community artist and help complete the bottom portion of the mural on Saturday, August 31st from 10-2.

TOMORROW NIGHT is the Washoe County commissioner candidate forum, featuring incumbent Commissioner Chair Alexis Hill and former Commissioner Marsha Berkbigler. Plan your question in advance and come early enough to write it up on the paper provided by organizers IVCB Community Forum and IVCBA.

IVCBA will be launching a campaign on civic engagement this fall. It starts with getting involved and understanding the issues facing the community. We hope to set the tone with this first candidate forum, asking for thoughtful questions, civility and respect for the candidates.

Watch for Tahoe Talks  on voting issues at Incline Library this fall. We will also be shining a light on our service clubs, encouraging people to get involved with our schools and nonprofits, either through volunteering or leadership roles on their boards.

MUSIC THIS WEEKEND!

Super Diamond is performing Friday in the Crystal Bay Club Crown Room. It’s a fundraiser for the Village Pet Foundation, helping with expenses for surgeries on pets. You can also support them by shopping at their thrift store in Christmas Tree Village. More exciting news from them soon about their second location and pet grooming!

ICONIC INCLINERS EVENT NEXT TUESDAY

The annual classic car show and dinner is next Tuesday. Joining Incliners is a great way to get involved and meet some really nice people 49+ years of age. And we all know that is YOUNG, not old!

Find all events on IVCBA.org calendar!

The Local Lens – Washoe Sheriff’s Tiffany Clements Retirement & Local News

August 7, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

CONGRATULATIONS TO TIFFANY CLEMENTS on her retirement from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office as a Field/Community Specialist with the Incline Substation! She is well-known in Incline because she attends in an official capacity or volunteers at, most local fundraisers and community events. Tiffany’s work is often behind the scenes but results in successful events like the Sheriff’s Office Community Picnic and setting up the patriotic décor around town for the Local Heroes 4th of July Celebration. She is always part of the organizing committee for community events. She represents the Sheriff’s Office at “Meet and Greets,” including the Incline Library Clean-up and Block Party and Candy Cane Village at UNR@Lake Tahoe. Tiffany’s career with Washoe County included 20 years with the Second District Judicial Court. You will continue to see Tiffany around town because she is a local resident and an active member of the Rotary Club of Tahoe-Incline.

DMV KIOSK

Did you know there was a Kiosk for the DMV(Department of Motor Vehicles) in Raleys? Thank Tiffany, former Captain Blaine Beard, and the DMV Now team. Residents can renew their vehicle registration and print the tags right there at the kiosk, located at the entrance closest to the produce aisles.

DON’T MISS OUT!

I know I am not the only with FOMO. So I hope YOU did not miss the wonderful Classical Tahoe summer concerts that ended last weekend. But it  is not too late to get out to Sand Harbor for the Shakespeare Festival’s performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor or their Signature Concert Series on Mondays and Tuesdays. On my calendar: the Carole King cover show next Tuesday, August 13.

It might be too late to get tickets for Tahoe Family Solutions “Hoo Doo in the Bayou”  on August 15th, but it’s NOT TOO LATE to plan to attend the Candidate Night for Washoe County Commissioners on the same night. Marsha Berkbigler, a former commissioner of Incline is running against the incumbent Alexis Hill.

Get the latest info on Lake Tahoe sustainability at the annual “ State of the Lake” report by TERC, Tahoe Environmental Center. Get all of the details at IVCBA.org for this event held on Thursday, August 8 at Granlibakken in Tahoe City.

BURNING MAN PHOTOGRAPHY FANS

Whether you have ever been a “Burner” at the festival on the Black Rock desert or simply love fabulous photography, there are two ongoing photography shows by local residents who are “almost famous” at Burning Man.  Eleanor Preger’s show is down at the Sierra Arts Foundation in Reno. Vanessa Franking, who has made a name for herself with amazing “light” photography has a show that opens next Monday for 5 weeks in South Shore in the Haldan Gallery on the campus of Lake Tahoe Community College. These women are longtime local residents. You have seen their work in the gallery in the Reno Airport as well.

The Local Lens

July 31, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

BIG NEWS!

If you haven’t heard this yet, you’ve been spending too much time on the beach and not enough time on your social media! Natural Grocers had their grand opening this morning. It’s the first major building development along Tahoe Blvd. for a long time and it brings a sense of vitality to “main street”.  The mural that will be on the front-facing wall, commissioned to local artist Sara Smith will add public art, including a portion that engages the public for completion. I had a “sneak peek”  last night while shopping their amazing stock of ALL organic products! It’s guilt-free chocolate if it is dark and organic, right?

Kudos to Natural Grocer for donating $2500 to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada (and for joining IVCBA!). For a national chain, they are doing all the right things to fit into the community.

ELECTION SEASON IS APPROACHING…

Thursday, Aug. 15 at 6PM: Plan to attend the first candidate forum hosted by IVCBA and the Friday IVCB Community Forum featuring Marsha Berkbigler and Alexis Hill running for County Commissioner. Learn more: http://ivcba.org/community-news/incline-village-community-forum-to-feature-candidates-for-washoe-county-commission-district-1/

JUST ANOTHER NORMAL(MANIC!) WEEK IN INCLINE

I need a vacation from my “staycation”. There’s too much to do! If that sounded like a complaint, it isn’t. I am bragging about all of the wonderful cultural and musical opportunities nearly every night of the week. What I am looking forward to the most next week: The Reno Phil’s tribute to Tina Turner on Monday at Sand Harbor. 80s dress-up opportunity everyone! I think I still have my Tina wig from my Dress The Party store days. Maybe I’ll wear the gold glitter pants I got from Panache on sale a couple of years ago. Don’t let me be the only one dressed up!

I am not a beach girl, but Chris Talbot and Around Tahoe Tours are going to treat me and my company like VIPs and set up tents and gear on the Sand Harbor beach on Saturday. No line, no schlepping? Priceless! His tours are awesome…check it out at https://www.aroundtahoe.com.

BEST KEPT SECRET…

This is to see if you read the Lens to the end. IVCBA has been all about beautification this spring and summer. My husband and I have built a sculpture park on Lariat Circle called Joyous Journey. It is our personal contribution to beautifying Incline and also a sanctuary where I can relax and recharge. Although it is not a public space per se, it is open to anyone who hears about it “word of mouth”, to walk through and enjoy the colorful art and landscaping respectfully. Enjoy!

The Local Lens – Veterans and Volunteers

July 9, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

Wow! What a Celebration! For a town that has become somewhat infamous for its divisive politics (and I hate to admit that), everyone came together to celebrate the 4th of July. At the risk of leaving something out, here’s my rundown of the Local Heroes Celebration organized and promoted by IVCBA on its website and local media.

I give a big shout-out to Jim Smith and Tahoe Red White & Blue II  for bringing back fireworks, the biggest single unifying event. It took a Village….IVGID played a big role, so did Kern Schumacher and other big (and small) donors, as well as the volunteers, especially the clean-up the morning after. And for those who couldn’t get on the beach for one reason or another, the fireworks were fantastic from the decks with a panoramic view.

All of the Vets organizations kept us aware of the “reason for the season: the Incline Village Veterans Club, Military Officers of America, Onwards Ops, and PTSD Now! with founders Craig and Julie Rauchle as the 2024 Local Heroes Parade Marshals. IMO, the most moving patriotic events were the Flag Retirement Ceremony and TOCCATA’s Red, White, and Tahoe Blue concert.

For the sheer number of organizations involved, the Local Heroes Parade, sponsored by IVCBA and the Rotary Club of Tahoe-Incline, and the Community Fair were very inclusive.  There might have been at least as many people IN the parade as watching the parade!  I give a big shout-out to the Vets Club and the IVGID grounds crew for setting up and taking down those tents at the community fair. Lettie Miller, we missed you! Other highlights were the WCSO vehicles on display, the famous TK and IVGID field games, and the Susie Scoops ice cream eating contest.

Not sure who wins the contest for the most volunteers, but the Vets Club and the North Lake Tahoe Fire Prevention District are in a close race. I guess what we should be counting, is the number of pancakes served. Both were enthusiastically attended, but arguably more fun was had waiting in the line for the 4th of July Vets Club pancake breakfast because they were serving mimosas while we waited!

Speaking of volunteers behind the scenes, Tiffany Clements from the Substation, Josh and Paul from the NLTFPD, realtors, Jonathon Gardner and other IVCBA volunteers decorated the parade route and Tahoe Blvd….and took it all down on Monday.  Decorating is very important to making the town look festive and my own personal mission since the years I owned Dress The Party costume and party store.

Behind the scenes at IVCBA, Julie Malkin-Manning and Kristin Derrin worked tirelessly to make sure everyone knew the schedule. Ask them how many times they STILL got asked “When is the parade?”!

We were really happy to see Incline Tahoe Foundation bring back Beer and Brats, now called Summerfest on the campus of UNR@Lake Tahoe.  This was a very laid-back family event, think kids playing on beautiful lawns, brats and watermelon, and music that wasn’t too loud to be enoyed. Thank you UNR for keeping that campus a popular place for local events.

I’m sure I left someone out, so IVCBA’S Kristin Derrin, the boss of the Weekly SnapShot, has written a version of acknowledgements complete with links in this edition.

Fiinally, questions I often get asked:

Why don’t we have the parade on the 4th

This is a good question. Tradition?? I do know that most people just want to be on the beach on the 4th. The parade and community fair are a lot of work, and the people involved want to be with family on the 4th

Why are there so many people in town?

Incline Village has ALWAYS been a second home community, and those part-time residents are all in town for the month of July. Please welcome those people back, and be nice to the other visitors that keep our local economy afloat.

Aren’t the fireworks bad for the Lake?

Oh dear. This is a bit of a conundrum because our community has to be laser-focused on Lake clarity and protecting the environment. What I’ve been told, and believe, is that the fireworks are far better for the environment than they used to be. I also believe that the organizers and enthusiastic clean-up volunteers are committed to removing all traces afterwards.  Thanks to Travel North Tahoe Nevada for its ongoing commitment to sustainability and educating visitors on how to  be responsible during their stay.

Local Heroes Parade Features Children from the Community

June 27, 2024 | Linda Offerdahl

The Local Heroes parade on July 2nd is becoming famous for many things, but perhaps the biggest scene stealers are the entries with kids.

For the fourth year in a row,  IVCBA features “Future Local Heroes” toddlers and preschoolers dressing up as their favorite hero… The parade starts at 10am with the IVGID kids bike parade and then an amazing assortment of floats, walking groups, classic cars, and equipment from Washoe County.

Stealing the scene however, may be the youngsters dressed up like firefighters, peace officers, health care professionals, teachers or superheroes. The Incline Village Nursery School, and local families are joining us this year. If you want your kiddo to participate, please contact kristin@ivcba.org.

Other groups feature kids as well: Daisy Day Care has their own float filled with adorable munchkins. The Lake Tahoe School has arguably the largest float with kids of all ages.

Be sure to  visit the Community Fair and the Backyard BBQ on the Village Green immediately following the parade.

Get all the details for the Local Heroes 4th of July Celebration at IVCBA.org.
