Barton Health Becomes a Cleveland Clinic Connected Member

July 30, 2025 | Member Submitted

Barton Health becomes the newest member to join the Cleveland Clinic Connected program, which provides members with access to the highest standards of patient care, quality and safety.

The goal of the Cleveland Clinic Connected program is to build a global network of independent, like-minded, quality-focused organizations that have a positive impact on patient care.

Barton Health is committed to providing consistently exceptional care to both residents and visitors of the Lake Tahoe region. By joining Cleveland Clinic Connected, Barton seeks to elevate its care delivery through unique access to Cleveland Clinic’s clinical expertise and specialized resources. This collaboration will support the development of more comprehensive service lines in key areas that significantly impact the health of its community, including cardiology, oncology, and neurology. Through this member program, Barton aims to enhance its capabilities and ensure advanced, high-quality care is accessible for its patients close to home.

Cleveland Clinic created Cleveland Clinic Connected in response to the increased global demand for quality healthcare. The collaborative program enables hospitals and healthcare organizations to connect with Cleveland Clinic’s clinical and operational experts to improve patient care, enhance operational efficiencies, and supports the professional development and education of clinical and non-clinical staff. Through the program, members benefit from clinical and operational support and best practices developed during Cleveland Clinic’s 104-year history.

“Our goal with the Cleveland Clinic Connected program is to positively impact patient care no matter where patients live,” said Tommaso Falcone, M.D., Cleveland Clinic Executive Vice President and President, International and Emerging Markets. “Together, this collaboration underscores our shared commitment to deliver safe, high-quality care to patients. We are excited to welcome Barton Health to the Cleveland Clinic Connected program.”

As a Cleveland Clinic Connected member, Barton Health clinicians will be able to access educational opportunities either at Cleveland Clinic or through distance learning, as well as best practices and protocols that are used at Cleveland Clinic locations worldwide. In addition, Barton Health’s staff can access Cleveland Clinic’s continuous quality improvement and advisory services, plus education and training including clinical observership programs.

“Our rural community deserves access to the best care possible, and Cleveland Clinic Connected represents a significant step forward in advancing that goal,” said Dr. Clint Purvance, President & CEO of Barton Health. “We value the opportunity to work alongside such esteemed colleagues as we continue our journey of continuous improvement and healthcare excellence. This collaboration will allow us to expand our expertise, strengthen key service lines, and ultimately provide our patients with more advanced, comprehensive care, right here in Lake Tahoe.”

Cleveland Clinic and Barton Health are working together to identify priority focus areas, which will begin with planning for the expansion of cardiology, neurology, and cancer care. Cleveland Clinic’s top ranked heart care team will consult with Barton Health to enhance opportunities to provide new treatments and therapies to patients, as well as explore cutting-edge technologies and techniques in cardiac and vascular care that will accelerate advances in treatments. With the expertise of the Taussig Cancer Center, Cleveland Clinic is consulting with Barton Health to support the launch of a new cancer program, providing expert guidance and proven best practices to expand access to high-quality cancer care in the region.

The focus on neurology builds on Cleveland Clinic’s nearly 20-year presence in Nevada, which began with the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in downtown Las Vegas in 2009. This specialized outpatient neurological center is dedicated to the research, treatment, education, and support of individuals and families affected by neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, and multiple sclerosis. With Cleveland Clinic in an advisory role, Barton Health looks to expand its neurological services, including the addition of leading diagnostic technology to care for individuals facing neurological disorders in Lake Tahoe.

Additionally, the collaboration will bring Cleveland Clinic’s expertise in building design, patient flow, and space optimization as Barton Health plans for expansion on its Nevada campus — a transformative project for Lake Tahoe healthcare, which aims to construct a state-of-the art hospital, featuring increased emergency and surgical capacity, improved care rooms, and modern medical equipment to advance the delivery of patient care and continue to improve health outcomes.

Keep Memory Alive’s annual Summer Festival & Rodeo returns on Saturday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 10 at the historic Shakespeare Ranch, a private estate in Glenbrook, for more western fun with the addition of a luxury car show experience to raise funds in the fight against neurodegenerative diseases across Nevada. This year, the Summer Festival and Rodeo will recognize Barton Health with the Community Leadership Award for their longstanding commitment to serving the Lake Tahoe community.

The Joy Foundation and Tahoe Joy Festival proudly announce that the

May 2, 2025 | Member Submitted

Tahoe Truckee School of Music will be the 2025 beneficiary of the 3rd annual Tahoe Joy Festival. A portion of the proceeds raised at the music festival will contribute to the school’s mission, allowing them to spread joy through music across North Lake Tahoe and Truckee. The free Tahoe Joy Festival is set to take place on Sunday, June 8, from 12 pm to 7 pm at Commons Beach in Tahoe City, showcasing local musicians, artists, and community nonprofits along with an exciting lineup on the Community Stage.

Ben Martin, Executive Director of Tahoe Truckee School of Music (TTSM) said, “Being the beneficiary of the Tahoe Joy Festival will provide financial support to TTSM so that we can offer more services to the community to learn and share music.”

For 15 years, TTSM has worked to fulfill their mission to ‘cultivate life skills and community through music for all ages, regardless of experience, ability, or financial resources’ in the Tahoe-Truckee area. They offer lessons for youth and adults including Music Foundations, Rock Band and Song Group and resources such as Instrument Loan, Recording Studio, and a Community Performance Booking Service.

TTSM student Jasmine Shick said of her five years at the school, “Learning how to read music, improvise, play an instrument, and conduct yourself in front of people even when things go wrong, has helped me in lots of different aspects of my life; it can really help you to think out of the box and look at new ways to learn and explain things.”

According to Martin, donations from the Tahoe Joy Festival will specifically help TTSM’s free instrument loan program, scholarships for lessons, student performances, and a new venture with Tahoe Truckee Unified School District that brings music learning to 2,000 Tahoe-Truckee students.

“The Tahoe Joy Festival stands out more than most other summer concerts in Tahoe because it offers a full day of free music, while also donating proceeds to a local nonprofit each year,” said Matt Axton, Tahoe native and founder of the new Joy Foundation and Tahoe Joy Festival. “We really want to emphasize that this is a benefit music festival, aiming not only to support regional musicians and artists but to also raise money for amazing community nonprofits like the Tahoe Truckee School of Music.”

TTSM will once again host the Community Stage of aspiring musicians from the school. The Community Stage lineup includes Jasmine Shick, Coco & Eliot, Jonathan Hennion and one more soon to be announced.

Coco Lowe, a TTSM alumna whose duo Coco & Eliot graced the Tahoe Joy Festival Community Stage in 2024, is scheduled to perform again this year. She said, “Performing at the Tahoe Joy Festival is an opportunity to share my love of music with my community in front of one of the most beautiful backdrops anywhere.” Lowe continued, “This year holds particular significance as it will be one of my final performances with my brother before he heads off to college.”

Martin expressed that having TTSM students, both young and adult, performing the Community Stage provides them with the opportunity to highlight their talents to the broader community, outside of the school setting, and in front of a significant audience. He mentioned that this opportunity allows the community to hear young performers and professionals they might not usually encounter, inspiring both children and adults to pursue music learning. In 2024, the Tahoe Joy Festival had more than 2,500 attendees.

Regarding TTSM’s collaboration with the Tahoe Joy Festival, where it serves as both a beneficiary and host of the Community Stage, Martin stated, “Ultimately, it’s about values: spreading joy and sharing music.”

Support from sponsors, volunteers, and donations is essential in keeping the festival free for everyone. All net proceeds will be distributed to TTSM. To get involved or learn more: https://joyfoundations.org/tahoefest/participate

Alibi Ale Works Brewery & Barrel House to Close

February 19, 2025 | Member Submitted

Dear Alibi Community,

We have some important news to share about the future of Alibi Ale Works. We have made the difficult but necessary decision to close our Brewery & Barrel House location in Incline Village and sell that property. This choice was not made lightly, but it is an essential step toward ensuring the long-term health of our business.

The good news? Alibi is here to stay! Our public houses in Incline Village and Truckee will remain open and thriving, continuing to serve the beers, food and experiences you love. Our core beers and many seasonals/one-offs will still flow from our taps, and you’ll continue to find Alibi beer in grocery stores, bars and restaurants across the region. Moving forward, we will partner with another trusted brewery to produce our beers, ensuring we maintain the quality and consistency you expect from us.

Like many small breweries, we’ve faced rising costs and a slowing craft beer market. Continuing to operate in our Incline brewery building has become financially untenable. To adapt, we are leaning into our incredible public houses, the vibrant community that gathers around them, and producing our delicious beer more efficiently through partnerships. This transition will allow us to reduce overhead, stabilize our business, and continue delivering the Alibi experience you know and love.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us along the way— our loyal customers, our dedicated team, and the community that has made Alibi feel like home. Change is never easy, but we’re embracin\g this new chapter with optimism, knowing that our best days are ahead.

We will be celebrating our Brewery & Barrel House over the next few months and we’ll be winding down this chapter of our business in style. Stay tuned for more details soon. In the meantime, thank you for being part of the Alibi story. We look forward to raising pints with you all for many years to come.

With gratitude,

Kevin DrakeCEO and Co-Founder

Hello, IVCBA! – New Owners of Incline Village Grocery Outlet

February 8, 2025 | Member Submitted

We’re Julie and Brandon, the proud new owners and operators of your local Incline Village Grocery Outlet!  Before taking on this location, we owned a Grocery Outlet in San Diego County for over two years.

Julie has over 15 years of experience in retail management, holding various leadership roles with Walmart before joining Grocery Outlet in 2022.  Brandon served in the U.S. Navy before transitioning to a career in the golf industry, eventually making his way into the grocery business.

We first visited Incline Village last year while in town for a Grocery Outlet charity golf tournament, and we immediately fell in love with the North Shore!  When the opportunity to take over the Incline Village store came up, we knew it was the perfect fit—a great business and a wonderful community to call home.

Coming from larger cities, we truly appreciate the strong sense of community in Incline Village.  We’re excited to connect with fellow local businesses and serve our neighbors.  We look forward to meeting you—both in the store and around town!

See you soon!
