December 1, 2025 | Kristin Derrin

Celebrating community generosity with IVCBA Member Nonprofits

Giving Tuesday is a powerful reminder of the generosity that defines Incline Village and Crystal Bay. Nearly all of our local nonprofits are proud members of IVCBA, working every day to strengthen our community. As you consider where to give this season, remember that the Tahoe Community Foundation serves as a central hub for nonprofit resources and philanthropy across Incline Village and the greater Tahoe Basin, making it easy to support the causes you care about most.

Below are just a few of the many IVCBA member nonprofits participating in Giving Tuesday this year. For a complete list of local nonprofit organizations serving our community, visit the IVCBA Community Resource Page, non-profit section: https://ivcba.org/resources/community-resources/ or visit the Tahoe Community Foundation for the complete list around the Basin.

Giving Tuesday Opportunities From IVCBA Member Nonprofits

Food Bank of Northern Nevada — Triple Match Opportunity

This Giving Tuesday, your generosity can go three times as far. Thanks to Dermody’s 2025 Thanksgiving Capstone Award, every gift to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada is tripled. Each dollar helps provide nine meals for children experiencing food insecurity, at a time when many families are feeling the strain of keeping dinner plates full, especially during a season symbolizing warmth, care, and community.

Pet Network

This year, Pet Network is raising funds for a generator for our shelter and community hospital so that animals in our care stay safe and warm—even when Tahoe’s winter storms knock the power out.

Clean Up The Lake

Fuel the Mission is our Giving Tuesday campaign to replace our retired operations vehicle so our dive team can keep cleaning Lake Tahoe year round. A dependable used vehicle allows us to haul tanks and kayaks, tow the jetski, reach remote coves, and launch in snowy winter conditions. Donors can sponsor specific parts of the vehicle from tires to safety gear to help power the pieces that keep our work moving. Every contribution (NO MATTER THE SIZE) fuels the mission and keeps our divers in the water protecting the lake from the bottom up.

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to support the organizations that make our mountain community strong, connected, and compassionate. Every contribution, large or small, helps uplift local programs and the people they serve. There are plenty of chain hotels in destinations all over the world, some fancy and some not, but all with their signature style. Here are a few boutique hotels around Lake Tahoe where the locals go:

Incline Lodge, Incline Village

In the summer of 2021, Incline Village residents the Warners made their dream come true by buying the inn on the corner of Highway 28 and Country Club Drive and transforming it into a clean, welcoming place with upgraded amenities and a focus on fun, quality, community, and adventure.

Get Ready to Sparkle: The Northern Lights Community Celebration is Coming!

November 26, 2025 | Julie Malkin-Manning

The holidays are officially upon us, and there is no better way to kick off the season than by gathering with friends and neighbors for an afternoon of pure festive fun.

On Saturday, December 6, we are turning UNR’s Prim Library into a winter wonderland for the annual Northern Lights Community Celebration. From 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, get ready for a merry day of music, laughter, and that special kind of magic that only happens when our community comes together.

If you’ve been looking for the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit, this is it. We are serving up wholesome holiday chaos in the best possible way, and you are invited to come play!

This year, we are pulling out all the stops with entertainment that highlights the incredible talent right here in our community.

We have the Incline Elementary Choir bringing the cute factor to an all-time high, followed by the Middle School Jazz Band delivering smooth holiday tunes. And you don’t want to miss the High School Cheer Team dialing up the energy with the very same performance they are taking to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Before show, keep your eyes peeled for Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will be making their entrance on a North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District Fire Truck. Need a warm-up? The Washoe County Sheriff Department and Cpt. Cola will be on deck serving hot cocoa to keep everyone toasty. UNR will be providing hot cider and cookies, and Raley’s has donated snack size sandwiches, perfect for elves.

One of the most heartwarming parts of the celebration is our Giving Tree Forest. This year, we are featuring close to 30 holiday trees, each one decorated by a local organization to represent their mission and impact.

This isn’t just about pretty lights (though there will be plenty of those!). Each tree features opportunities for you to give back; whether through time, treasure, or talent. It is a beautiful reminder of the generosity that fuels our town.

Plus, we need your help! Community members will vote for their favorite tree (People’s Choice) and a committee will select two additional winners:

  • Most Creative & Crafty Tree (Best use of handmade/recycled materials)
  • Most On-Theme Tree (Best reflects the organization’s mission)

Make sure to cast your vote and help your favorite organization earn bragging rights for the year!

It wouldn’t be a celebration without games and crafts. Organizations from all over the region are hosting tables with interactive activities for kids and adults alike, including an elf scavenger hunt and holiday card making stations.

Here is a sneak peek at who you can meet:

  • AAUW
  • Pet Network
  • Rotary Tahoe Incline
  • Sierra Community House
  • Toys for Tots
  • BGCNLT
  • IVGID Parks & Rec
  • The Pet Network
  • Rotary InterACT
  • Incline Elementary Foundation
  • IVCBA
  • Travel North Tahoe Nevada
  • The Follies
  • Daisy Trails
  • Sustainable Tahoe, and more!

There will be plenty of photo spots to capture your holiday card memories, games to play, and crafts to make and take home.

We will wrap up the festivities with a spectacular solar-powered community tree lighting. This year’s tree was donated by the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and will shine bright as a symbol of our shared holiday spirit.

This event is proudly brought to you by IVCBA, IVGID, UNR Lake Tahoe, NLTFPD, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, and Raley’s.

So, mark your calendars, grab your mittens, and join us for an afternoon that promises to be the highlight of the season. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Originally published in the Tahoe Daily Tribune, 11/24/2025, Written by Katelyn Welsh

As new technologies emerge to address intensifying wildfires, regional partners saw an opportunity in Incline Village to put these new innovations to the test.

“Can we take all this new technology,” Tahoe Fund executive director, Amy Berry, said, “and use it to identify the mitigations that would matter the most in the neighborhoods, to try to keep neighborhoods as safe as possible?”

The question became the impetus for the Fire Smart Community Pilot in the Tyrolian Village neighborhood to understand how to create more fire ready communities.

In The News – IVGID moves forward with reinstating employee beach access

November 19, 2025 | Member Submitted

Originally Published in the Tahoe Daily Tribune, 11/19/2025, Writen by Laney Griffo

The Incline Village General Improvement District Board of Trustees is moving toward reinstating beach access for employees after a lengthy discussion during its Nov. 12 meeting.

The move would reverse a January 2023 decision to remove beach access for out-of-district employees.

When the board removed access in 2023, trustees said the policy violated the beach deed and could put the district at risk of lawsuits.
